Rio Tinto Iron Ore – Mesa J Backstop Grouting
Epoxy Grout Mixing & Pumping Services
Metsel Marine & Civil (MMC) was engaged by Austral Construction to carry out specialist grouting works for a Rio Tinto Iron Ore facility, involving the grouting of a structural backstop.
MMC provided the mixing and pumping of approximately 6 m³ of Conbextra epoxy grout, delivered under controlled conditions to meet the project’s structural and performance requirements. Due to the critical nature of epoxy grouting, strict controls were applied to batching accuracy, mixing consistency, and placement continuity.
The grout was mixed and pumped using MMC’s Putzmeister S5 grout mixer, selected for its suitability in handling epoxy-based materials and its ability to deliver consistent output during continuous placement.
All works were completed in accordance with the approved methodology, with a strong focus on quality control, equipment reliability, and safe execution in an operational mining environment.
This project demonstrates MMC’s capability to deliver specialist epoxy grouting services for heavy industrial and mining applications, supported by appropriate plant, experienced personnel, and disciplined execution.
