Binningup Desalination Plant
Intake Manifold Grouting Repairs
Metsel Marine & Civil (MMC) was engaged by Fremantle Diving Services / Water Corporation to support remedial grouting works on the Binningup Desalination Plant intake manifold.
MMC supplied specialist grouting equipment, subsea fabric grout bags and experienced grouting personnel to carry out repairs in a challenging marine environment. The scope included the controlled mixing and pumping of a high-density, rheology-modified cementitious grout specifically engineered to perform under submerged and flowing water conditions.
The grout formulation was designed to exhibit excellent cohesion and anti-washout properties, allowing it to be pumped across a water gap without segregation or material loss. The grout achieved a compressive strength in excess of 60 MPa at 28 days, meeting the structural and durability requirements of the intake manifold repair.
All grouting works were executed with a strong focus on quality control, placement control, and coordination with diving operations to ensure accurate placement and effective sealing of the repaired sections.
This project demonstrates MMC’s capability to deliver high-performance marine grouting solutions for critical water infrastructure assets, combining specialist equipment, tailored grout design, and hands-on marine construction expertise.
