DNV 2.7-1 Rated Grout Spread Design & Supply
Metsel Marine & Civil (MMC) designed and manufactured a custom offshore-rated grout spread to support maritime construction works on a remote project based in the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
The grout spread was engineered and built in-house by MMC to comply with DNV 2.7-1 offshore lifting and certification requirements, ensuring suitability for marine handling, vessel operations, and harsh offshore environments. The system was designed for reliability, continuous operation, and safe offshore deployment.
The spread was configured to be fed via 1-tonne bulk bags and utilised a continuous mixing and pumping arrangement to deliver grout directly to the point of application. The system was specifically set up to handle Bluey Technologies HS200 grout, maintaining consistent mix quality and flow throughout extended pumping operations.
The integrated mixing and pumping system enabled uninterrupted grout production, minimising downtime and ensuring stable grout properties during offshore placement activities. The design focused on robustness, ease of operation, and maintainability in a remote maritime setting.
This project demonstrates MMC’s capability to design and deliver bespoke offshore grouting plant, combining structural certification, process engineering, and practical marine construction experience for complex and logistically challenging environments.
