Metsel Marine & Civil were contracted by Austral Construction to design build and operate a specialized grout plant to install construction grout at Carnavorn Wharf.
The client originally approached Metsel for assistance in the equipment design. Our in-house engineer and draftperson designed a modification to an existing grouting unit and our manufacturing arm went about the fabrication and modification to deliver a unit that could meet the requirements of the project.
The 415 volt Single Silo Grout Station accepts, via crane, 1-tonne bulk bags of propriety grout into the Silo. From there an automated continuous mixer homogeneously mixes the grout and feeds it into a holding hopper where it is delivered, via a 601pm pump, to the structure. The continuous grout system was able to achieve in excess of 3m3 of mixed grout per hour.
Due to the unique build and time restraints, the client employed Metsel’s specialized operatives to carry out the installation.
